Bach; flutist Julin Cheung plays a Canzone by Barber; and pianist Nathaniel Zhang plays a Nocturne by Chopin.
8/11 Special guest Deborah Borda, Pres & CEO of the NYPO joins the show to talk about leading one of the country’s leading orchestras, as she meets with these young people who are emerging leaders of tomorrow. We’ll hear clarinetist Santiago Del Curto play music by Béla Kovács; “Avast, Ye! Maidens Sing” by young composer Yuri Lee; violist Iris Hur plays Hindemith; pianist Jordan Manasse plays a Sonata by Prokofiev; and violinist Dexter Doris plays music by George Enescu.
8/18 Today we meet the award-winning Plexus Saxophone Quartet who perform “The Jig” by Clint Bleil; flutist Erica Wang who performs a Fantaisie by Fauré; guitarist Brady Davis plays Brouwer; pianist Celine Chen plays a Toccata by Stephen Hough; and we’ll hear how a letter from a stranger impacted the life of violinst Blues Zhang from Hong Kong who now studies in Los Angeles and will play a Capriccioso by Camille Saint-Saëns.
8/25 Today we’re treated to performances by violinist Dániel Hodos who plays Fritz Kreisler; pianist Andrew Sijie who plays “Song Of The Lark” by Tchaikovsky; soprano Amelia Reines sings “Sure on This Shining Night” Barber; French hornist Ashley Chiang plays Beethoven; and pianist Christopher Tillen plays Liszt.
