10/14 Songs and Laments of the Sephardim This week’s program features sacred, paraliturgical, celebratory, and secular music of the Jews of the Mediterranean, Spain, Greece, Italy, and the Ottoman Empire performed by Jordi Savall and Hesperion XXI, New York Baroque Ensemble, and Alia Musica.

10/21 The Unknown Granados Lesser known orchestral and chamber works by the composer of Goyescas and Twelve Spanish Dances, including forgotten orchestral and instrumental treasures from one of the great composer-pianists of the late 19th and early 20th century.

10/28 Ortiz and Cererols Jordi Savall and La Capella Reial bring to life works from the 16th and 18th centuries by two of Spain’s most important composers with a Neapolitan connection. The featured work on this week’s program of music from Renaissance and Baroque Spain is Missa pro defunctis, a requiem written during the great Barcelona plague, by Catalan composer Joan Cererols. Works for viola da gamba by Diego Ortiz from Castilla-La Mancha round out the program.
