2/10 Constantino Gaito: an Argentine Post-Romantic Genius Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1878, Gaito went to study in Napoli, Italy. He was encouraged and supported by Verdi, who championed his music. Gaito is an amazing post-Romantic composer, amazingly overlooked by music history. He composed beautifully crafted chamber and orchestral music as well as eleven operas.

We pay tribute to this great orchestra who has been led by such conductors as Claudio Abbado, Simon Rattle, and Gustavo Dudamel. Elbio Barilari shares some of his favorite recordings from this virtuosic orchestra.
