Jeff Scott, founding horn player of the Imani Winds and composer, took the inspiration from two giants of music, J.S. Bach and John Coltrane, to create an innovative and surprising oratorio that brings together classical and jazz. Passion for Bach and Coltrane includes spoken word by AB Spellman and is performed by the Imani Winds, along with the Harlem Jazz Quartet and jazz soloists.
This work is one of Imani Winds’ most personal musical journeys. It is a piece of astonishing originality; and in today’s musical landscape, inspiration is an entirely underrated miracle.
