Written in 1905, Johan Wagenaar's overture Cyrano de Bergerac is a musical portrait of the title character in Edmond Rostand’s 1897 play of the same name. Cyrano’s pertinent characteristics, "Heroism, Poetry, Love, Humor, Satire" and "Chivalry"are indicated in the score. We'll hear it on the Oct 10th broadcast.
