8/7 A 17th Century Opera from Spain The opera El majo y la maja (The Boy and the Girl) was premiered in Spain in 1798 and written by Manuel García, who was one of the most internationally famous tenors of his era and a successful composer. He was also the father of the soprano Maria Malibrán, one of great opera voices of the 19th century. Join us as we uncover this rarely heard Spanish language opera and hear more about Manuel García’s life and career.
