10/5      This episode features these outstanding young artists: violist Sophia Nam performing Brahms’ Violin Sonata; tuba player Cristian Vasquez who plays Bruce Broughton’s Tuba Sonata; clarinetist Brahin Ahmaddiya plays “Three Smiles for Tracey” by Adolphus Hailstork; saxophonist Cory Gutierrez plays Preston Duncan’s arrangement of Romance by Amy Beach; and percussionist Sydney Vance plays “Rhythm Song” by Paul Smadbeck.

10/12    Today we hear pianist André Peck play Scherzo No. 3 by Chopin; cellist Sophia Alexander plays Après un rêve by Gabriel Fauré; trumpeter Christian Garner plays the “With Strength and Vigor” movement from Kent Keenan’s Trumpet Sonata; oboist Izaiah Cheeran plays three movements from Reena Esmail’s “Pranayam;” violinist Lorelei Schoenhard plays an arrangement of Hungarian Dance No. 5. by Brahms; and we’ll hear from the MacPhail Guitar Quartet as they perform Luc Levesque’s arrangement of Tico Tico by Zequinha de Abreu.

10/19     From the Top returns to Michigan to hear from these young artists:cellist Cameron Renshaw performing The Swan from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns; flutist Jian Kim plays Excerpts from Fantaisie for Flute and Piano by Georges Hüe; violinist Ari Han plays the Ballade from Eugène Ysaÿe’s Violin Sonata; violist Alexandra Yeoh plays a movement from Robert Schumann’s Märchenbilder; clarinetist Luis Diego Montero Hernández plays a movement from Poulenc’s Piano Sonata; and we’ll have a Flashback Finale from Gabriel Campos Zamora.
