11/8      Pride and Heritage of indigenous peoples This week Edmund brings you a celebration of music from movies written and directed by, starring and about Indigenous Peoples. Explore stories and music from cultures all across this continent including Atanarjuat: The Fastest Runner, the award-winning film of the beloved Inuit legend; Shouting Secrets, a contemporary tale of the life of an Apache novelist and his family, and Wind River, a detective story that goes beyond the mystery and explores the lives of Native Americans today.
11/15    Amazing Animals According to Kids Kids, and Kids at Heart, see the world for all its wonderful diversity with eager eyes. Today Edmund has the soundtrack to some of the most amazing animals on our planet, according to kids. Imagine the connection between humpback whales and life on other planets in Star Trek: The Journey Home, get a glimpse into the fascinating real world of kangaroos and wombats in Kangaroo Valley, and have some fun with the Penguins of Madagascar.
11/22    Ancient Artifacts Human history is filled with amazing antiquities that give us glimpses into our past. Today Edmund is digging into films that feature some of the most intriguing relics from cultures throughout the world. Movies don’t always get history right, but they do make it enticing. From the Antiketheria Mechanism - titled the Dial of Destiny by Indiana Jones, to the stunning archives at the Library of Alexandria in Agora, and the monolithic heads at Easter Island in Rapa Nui, it’s an adventure through history as viewed through fantasy and documentary.
11/29 There’s No Place Like Home There are times when our hearts think fondly of home - in whatever form that takes. Edmund takes a look and a listen to films that are all about people and animals trying to “get back home.” From E.T. The Extraterrestrial to Cast Away, The Best Years of our Lives to Finding Nemo, there’s no place like home.
