12/14    150 Years of Ravel We’re celebrating Ravel’s 150th birthday with outstanding young musicians from the Boston area. We hear the Zed Septet from Boston; saxophonist Brandon Fu plays In a Sentimental Mood by Duke Ellington; pianist Henry Tushman plays Gaspard de la nuit by Maurice Ravel; cellist Lorenzo Ye plays Czardas by Vittorio Monti; the Piano Trio of Anna Kehayova, Laetitia Ji and Sophia Fortuin play Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio.

12/21    Today we’ll hear from trombonist Devin Spaulding playing Concert Piece #24, "Driving - Dreaming" by Brad Edward; percussionist Zaylyn Bain playing Piacer d'amor for Solo Marimba by Keiko Abe; tuba player June Eickholt performing a movement of Vaughan Williams’ Concerto for Bass Tuba; violiinist Abigail Regua who plays an arrangement by Jasha Heifetz of Beau soir by Claude Debussy; and saxophonist Nicholas Rossi who will play a movement of Rhapsody for Alto Saxophone and Piano by André Waignein.

12/28    We’re in Philadelphia celebrating the city’s vibrant classical music scene with co-host Joseph Conyers, Philadelphia Orchestra’s principal bassist and Founder of Project 440. We meet local teen composer Rhyuhn Green who aspires to create more opportunities for fellow Black composers; violinist Gabriela Salvador Riera who performs a work by contemporary composer Jesse Montgomery; flutist Joshua Rascón who performs Widor with hosts Peter Dugan and Joseph Conyers; harpist Eunice Park talks about why she chose her instrument; and guitarist Ethan Kim gives a fiery performance of Roland Dyens.
