Two of the great names in Mexican music: Silvestre Revueltas was a student of Carlos Chavez. Their musical friendship inspired both of them to reach new musical heights. Fiesta brings together some remarkable compositions by these two giants of 20th century music.
2/19: Hidden Jewels by Camargo Guarnieri
Mozart Camargo Guarnieri spent most of his career under the shadow of his name and of fellow Brazilian composer, Heitor Villa-Lobos. Like Villa-Lobos, Guarnieri brought the music of Brazil to the concert stage through symphonies, operas, dance music and song. After all, with a name like Mozart what else could you be but a composer?
2/26: 18th Century Composers from Spain & Portugal
Fiesta introduces rarely heard pieces by Spanish and Portuguese composers from the Baroque and early Classical periods including Manuel Canales, Vicente Baset, and Joao de Souza Carvalho.
