The last time pianist Natasha Paremski was in town to perform with your Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, she played Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with great agility and aplomb. She’s back and playing another great Russian work: Rachmaninov’s Variations on a Theme of Paganini. Natasha came by the studios to chat with WXXI Classical’s Music Director Julia Figueras about the plot of this piece that was first conceived as a ballet, why so many people overplay Russian concertos, and the pianist who inspired her to follow her muse.
A collection of discussions between special guests and Music Director and midday host, Julia Figueras.
