Live from Hochstein

Hosted by WXXI Classical's Mona Seghatoleslami, Live from Hochstein is the longest running live broadcast concert series in Western New York. Broadcast live from the Hochstein Performance Hall (50 North Plymouth Ave. in Rochester), the series presents performances by some of the finest artists from the Rochester area’s musical community. Each of these free concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music during their lunch hour.  The season also includes the annual Hochstein Recital Winners Concert. You can hear an encore broadcast of Live from Hochstein later the same day at 10 p.m. on WXXI Classical.

  • Experience live classical music over lunch in person and on the radio, as a new season of Live from Hochstein starts with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jherrard Hardeman, playing music by Coleridge-Taylor, Beethoven, and Dvorak, Wednesday, October 16th at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall and broadcast live on WXXI Classical.
  • Experience live classical music over lunch in person and on the radio on Live from Hochstein with a sampler of classical mandolin works, Wednesday, October 23rd at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall and broadcast live on WXXI Classical.
  • Experience live classical music over lunch in person and on the radio with a program of baroque gems musicians from Pegasus Early Music and The Publick Musick , Wednesday, October 30th at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall and broadcast live on WXXI Classical.
  • Experience live classical music over lunch in person and on the radio with a program of music by 21st century women played by the Telos Trio Wednesday, November 6th at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall and broadcast live on WXXI Classical.
  • Experience live classical music over lunch in person and on the radio with pianist Joshua Fugate, Wednesday, November 13th at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall and broadcast live on WXXI Classical.
  • Experience live classical music over lunch in person and on the radio with pianist Yi-Wen Chang playing preludes past and present in a variety of styles Wednesday, November 20th at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall and broadcast live on WXXI Classical.
  • Hear the winners of the David Hochstein Recital Competition on the radio Wednesday November 27th at noon on WXXI Classical (note: this is a pre-recorded program, there is no live show at Hochstein this Wednesday).
  • Experience this beloved holiday program A Cup of Good Cheer with Madrigalia singing us into the season Wednesday, December 4th at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall and broadcast live on WXXI Classical.
