A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols airs at 10am on Sunday, Dec. 24, hosted by Michael Barone. If you can't be available to hear the live broadcast, an archive will be available here as on-demand audio for 30 days.
A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols presents a live, world-wide Christmas Eve service of Biblical readings, carols, and seasonal Classical music, presented by one of the world’s foremost choirs of men and boys at the 500-year-old Chapel of King’s College, Cambridge.
A new work has been commissioned for the Christmas Eve service every year since 1983. This year, we'll hear the premiere of the newly commissioned carol “The Cradle,” composed by Cheryl Frances-Hoad from a setting of an English translation by Robert Graves of an anonymous 17th-century Austrian text.
