The Gateways Brass Collective brings music that moves you Live from Hochstein this spring

A resident ensemble of the Gateways Music Festival, the Gateways Brass Collective (Herbert Smith and Courtney Jones, trumpet; Larry Williams, horn; Isrea Butler, trombone; and Jerome Stover, tuba) has presented dynamic performances and inspirational educational programs since 2018. This program features music by Michael Kamen, Astor Piazzolla, Eric Ewazen, Dizzy Gillespie (arranged by Herb Smith!) and more!

You're invited to hear this music on Live from Hochstein on Wednesday, April 23rd at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall (50 N. Plymouth Avenue, downtown Rochester) or by listening to the live broadcast on WXXI Classical.

Gateways’ mission is to support and connect professional classical musicians of African descent and enlighten and inspire communities through the power of performance. The quintet has been featured at music festivals across the US and its members are equally fluent in classical, jazz, and contemporary music.

Live from Hochstein with host Mona Seghatoleslami is a series of midday concerts by some of the finest artists in our area broadcast live from The Hochstein Performance Hall. Each of these free concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students, and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music by outstanding musicians, including soloists, duos, and vocal and chamber ensembles. You can also hear an encore broadcast of Live from Hochstein later the same day at 10 p.m. on WXXI Classical.
