Live from Hochstein: Piano Music of Thomas Henderson Kerr, Jr., 11/5

Pianist Tony Caramia will present a program celebrating the music of Thomas Henderson Kerr Jr. (1915–1988), featuring solo works, piano duos, spiritual arrangements, and original songs for voice and piano.

He will be joined by Eastman School of Music Professor of Voice Joshua Conyers (with two of his students) and Lorenzo Medel, Piano Chair at the Eastman Community Music School. Kerr, an Eastman graduate, was a pianist, organist, composer, and longtime Professor of Piano and Chair at Howard University, whose works were performed by leading African American artists of his era and whose spiritual arrangements have been championed by renowned singers such as Kathleen Battle and Jessye Norman.

You're invited to hear this music on Live from Hochstein on Wednesday, November 5th at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall (50 N. Plymouth Avenue, downtown Rochester) or by listening to the live broadcast on WXXI Classical.

Live from Hochstein with host Mona Seghatoleslami is a series of midday concerts by some of the finest artists in our area broadcast live from The Hochstein Performance Hall. Each of these free concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students, and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music by outstanding musicians, including soloists, duos, and vocal and chamber ensembles.
