The Rochester Philharmonic League’s 2022 Young Artist Awards (YAA) winner, violinist Luke Pisani, performed in October with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra at two free Around-the-Town concerts. These performances were part of the Grand Prize package that the League awareded the Hilton High School senior, along with a $1,000 Aldridge-Tinker Scholarship for Instruments.
Luke performed the Finale of Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1, one of the most popular concertos in solo violin repertoire. The program also included the second movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, the fourth movement of Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, From The New World, and John Williams’ “Princess Leia’s Theme” from Star Wars: Suite for Orchestra.
Luke played with the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra for six seasons and served as its concertmaster, conducting apprentice, and twice won the HYSO concerto competition. Luke currently studies violin with RPO Assistant Concertmaster Shannon Nance. He plans to study violin performance in college and pursue a career as a classical and jazz musician.
Luke is featured in this WROC-TV channel 8 interview.
