The Metropolitan Opera has instituted a 14-day self-imposed quarantine for artists and staff traveling to New York City from areas that have been impacted by the coronavirus.
The Met's Assistant General Manager Diane Zola sent an email to artist managers on Tuesday mandating a “self-imposed quarantine for a period of 14 days upon arriving in New York from any one of the countries designated by the U.S. Center for Disease Control. These countries currently are China, Iran, South Korea, Japan, Italy and Hong Kong."
Artists and managers will need to adjust travel plans in order to accommodate the 14-day quarantine period prior to the start of rehearsals, or rehearsal schedules may need to be adjusted.
