WXXI Classical's annual celebration of local performing groups. While the novel coronavirus has resulted in the cancellation of concerts and seasons, we brought some of the area's best live musical moments to you. This focus on local music has continued through the show Performance Upstate and the continued inclusion of live, local performances as part WXXI's daily programming.

Ralph Vaughan Williams: Suite for Viola and Piano, Group 1 (1934)

We end this work week where we began it: in the First Universalist Church for the First Muse concert "British Buddies" on November 19, 2017. First Muse founder and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Principal Violist Melissa Matson and pianist Kurt Galván play this charming three movement with a Prelude, and Carol, and a Christmas Dance (this was performed in November, after all).

By the way, when Matson, who is in her 35th year with your RPO, isn't in rehearsal with the orchestra or her chamber music series, she can be found creating lush and lovely fabrics and clothing.
