A collection of discussions between special guests and Music Director and midday host, Julia Figueras.

On Record with Yefim Bronfman and Ward Stare - 9/13 & 9/15/18

The great pianist Yefim Bronfman is joining forces with Ward Stare and your Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra to open the new season with two fan favorites and a concerto that Mr. Bronfman calls "a nightmare;" the Roman Carnival Overture by Berlioz, Dvorak's New World Symphony, and Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 all set the stage for concerts to come.

Fima, as his friends call him, took some time off from practicing to stop by with Ward and chat with Julia Figueras about the many challenges in this reconstructed work, his debut with Bernstein, and why he chose to make America his adopted home.

A Strong Memorial baby and Greece Arcadia grad, Julia Figueras was the Music Director and mid-day host for WXXI Classical until June 30, 2023 when she retired after more than 26 years of service. She also hosted the award-winning monthly interview/performance show, Backstage Pass.
