Miami-based American composer Kevin Day is an internationally acclaimed composer, conductor, and pianist, whose music often intersects between the worlds of jazz, minimalism, Latin music, fusion, and contemporary classical idioms. Day’s music has been characterized by “propulsive, syncopated rhythms, colorful orchestration, and instrumental virtuosity,” (Robert Kirzinger, BSO), and ranges from powerfully introspective to joyously exuberant.

Day is quickly emerging as one of the leading young voices in the world of music composition today. In January 2022 Kevin Day headlined the Sheffield Chamber Players’ “A Brand New Day” program, with the world premiere of his “String Quartet No. 5.” Day’s piece is part of a larger initiative by the Sheffield Chamber Players to premiere newly commissioned works by five diverse composers through 2027.
