Epongue Ekille, violin

Epongue Ekille grew up in Rochester, went to school in Fairport High School, then studied music at The Hochstein School. She has played as part of the Gateways Music Festival. Epongue is a historical and modern violinist based in New York City. She enjoys a versatile career having performed most recently at the Carmel Bach Festival, on the Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and with ensembles such as Juilliard415, the Harlem Symphony and Chamber Players, and Silentwoods Collective. In March of 2014, Ekille performed a solo in Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, where she received the Tri-State Excellence Award in Violin Performance. She also received the National Gold Medal in Violin Performance from the Royal Conservatory. Epongue holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Environmental Management and Justice from Yale College and Yale School of the Environment.
