Paul Burgett, Lecturer, Community Leader and Friend

Paul Joseph Burgett earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester. His Ph.D. dissertation treated the aesthetics of the music of Black Americans, a subject that continues to occupy him as a teacher and scholar. He currently serves as Vice President and General Secretary and Senior Advisor to the President at the University of Rochester. As a faculty member in the College music department, he teaches courses in the History of Jazz and the Music of Black Americans. He is an undergraduate faculty advisor and continues to advise several student organizations.
