Classical 91.5 Presents...Following the Ninth

WXXI Classical 91.5 Presents...Following the Ninth, a documentary exploring the meaning, mystery, and global impact of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, as a virtual event in partnership with The Little Theatre.

Celebrate Beethoven's 250th birthday with us by purchasing a ticket to watch the movie online through The Virtual Little Theatre between November 20th and December 5th, and then join in an online discussion of the movie and the impact of Beethoven's music on Saturday December 5th at 3pm.

The discussion will be hosted by WXXI's Mona Seghatoleslami, with guests including Dr. Michael Ruhling, a scholar and conductor, who has recently taught a graduate seminar on Beethoven's symphonies at the Eastman School of Music, and Dr. Reinhild Steingröver, a professor of German and Film Studies, whose work has focused on the intersection of art and politics and the role of the artist in society.

Classical 91.5 Presents is a series that spotlights classical music connections in film. Selected by our Classical music hosts Julia Figueras, Brenda Tremblay and Mona Seghatoleslami, each film chosen exemplifies the power of music in a non-traditional narrative.
