This season of your Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra has seen some Covid-19 related shuffling of concerts and, in the case of the season finale, repertoire. One Mahler symphony was exchanged for another, with an iconic piano concerto and a charming but rarely played overture added. RPO Music Director Andreas Delfs and pianist Simon Trpceski chatted with WXXI Classical Music Director Julia Figueras about Weber's Oberon Overture, the charm and honesty of Grieg's Piano Concerto, the journey of Mahler's Symphony No. 1, the Titan and how, in the end, they all bring us hope.

A Strong Memorial baby and Greece Arcadia grad, Julia Figueras was the Music Director and mid-day host for WXXI Classical until June 30, 2023 when she retired after more than 26 years of service. She also hosted the award-winning monthly interview/performance show, Backstage Pass.
