The last concert of the 2021-22 season for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra brings us two favorites and something new: Rodrigo's elegant Concierto de Aranjuez, Tchaikovsky's powerful Symphony No. 4, and Lera Auerbach's Icarus, a piece new to Rochester audiences. Guest conductor Carlos Izcaray and guitarist Jiji's conversation with WXXI Classical Music Director Julia Figueras took flight, as they discussed the works, their influences, and how to have that difficult conversation with a composer.

A Strong Memorial baby and Greece Arcadia grad, Julia Figueras was the Music Director and mid-day host for WXXI Classical until June 30, 2023 when she retired after more than 26 years of service. She also hosted the award-winning monthly interview/performance show, Backstage Pass.
