A new season for your Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra is upon us, and it begins with Beethoven: The Ruin of Athens Overture, Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, and his Violin Concerto in D with soloist Gil Shaham. RPO Music Director Andreas Delfssat down to chat with WXXI Classical music director Julia Figueras about their impact despite bad premiers, Beethoven's journey from darkness to light, and what the Amsterdam rhythm is.

A Strong Memorial baby and Greece Arcadia grad, Julia Figueras was the Music Director and mid-day host for WXXI Classical until June 30, 2023 when she retired after more than 26 years of service. She also hosted the award-winning monthly interview/performance show, Backstage Pass.
