This week's Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra concerts bring conductor Mei-Ann Chen to the podium for her first appearance with the RPO and the return of pianist Inon Barnatan to the stage of Kodak Hall. Both chatted with Julia Figueras about the program which includes "Blue Cathedral," Jennifer Higdon's peaceful meditation on life's paths, Chopin re-orchestrated, and the RPO debut of Louise Farrenc's towering Symphony No. 3. Along the way, they discussed the pursuit of new music, what made Chopin happy, and persevering with passion.

A Strong Memorial baby and Greece Arcadia grad, Julia Figueras was the Music Director and mid-day host for WXXI Classical until June 30, 2023 when she retired after more than 26 years of service. She also hosted the award-winning monthly interview/performance show, Backstage Pass.
