Mondays at 10pm

11/1 El Fiesta de Halloween Though it’s a North American holiday, Halloween now is celebrated throughout Spain and Latin America. Perhaps no instrument can give you goosebumps as can the theramin, so of course, we’ll feature that early electronic instrument. We’ll also hear some fun and scary music from Spain and South America, including the complete El Amor Brujo by Manuel de Falla.

11/8 Chamber Music from Spain and the New World Chamber Music from Spain, Argentina, and Mexico from the early and mid-20th century, featuring a piano quartet by Spain's Joaquín Turina, Argentinian composer Piazzolla's Four Seasons of Buenos Aires arranged for piano trio, and Mexican composer Carlos Chávez's first string quartet. Artists include Trio Solisti, Southwest Chamber Music, and the Damocles Trio.

11/15 Spanish Piano Masterpieces This week, romantic piano works from the late 19th and early 20th centuries from composers born in Spain's Catalonian and Basque regions: the well-known Suite Española No. 1 by Isaac Albéniz, plus lesser-known but enchanting works for piano by Federico Longás and Jesús Guridi.

11/22 El Sistema: Venezuela’s Orchestral “System” Works by Venezuelan composers Inocente Carreño, Aldemaro Romero, and Antonio Estévez Aponte, presented by Gustavo Dudamel leading the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra; Eduardo Mata conducting Venezuela’s professional Simón Bolívar Orchestra and Chorus.

11/29 Born in Buenos Aires Music by three generations of Argentinian composers, all born in Buenos Aires: Alberto Williams, Alberto Ginastera, and Jorge Liderman.
