A puppet opera within a puppet opera, Master Peter’s Puppet Show (El Retablo de Maese Pedro) is the centerpiece of the show on 6/24.

6/3        Mid-century Spanish Classics - Spanish classics from the mid-20th century, including works from by Joaquín Rodrigo, Federico Moreno-Torroba, and Julián Menéndez for clarinet, guitar, and piano.

6/10      Los Hermanos Halffter/The Brothers Halffter - Though both born in Spain, one of the brothers is known as a Spanish composer, while the other identified as a Mexican composer. We know you’ll enjoy the music of both Halffter brothers.

6/17      Spanish Sacred Music from the 1300s - The female a capella quartet Anonymous 4 present selections from Burgos’ Codex Las Huelgas, dating from the turn of the 14th century.

6/24      Classical Quixote - A program of music inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ timeless novel Don Quixote. Manuel de Falla’s one-act opera Master Peter’s Puppet Show (El Retablo de Maese Pedro) is the centerpiece for this week’s show, with works by Gerardo Gombau and Roerto Gerhard rounding out this “novel” program.
