WXXI Poetry Moments 2020

WXXI Poetry Moments air at 1:20 p.m. on Classical 91.5, and at 2:04 p.m. on AM 1370, April 6-10; 13-17, 2020.WXXI celebrates poets and their words during the month of April, which is National Poetry Month. Once again this year, we will have a special series of Poetry Moments, created in collaboration with Rochester-based BOA Editions, celebrating more than 40 years of independent publishing.These WXXI/BOA Poetry Moments are an annual celebration. Lucille Clifton (1936 - 2010) was an award winning poet, fiction writer, and author of children’s books. Her poetry collection, Blessing the Boats: New & Selected Poems 1988-2000 (BOA, 2000), won the National Book Award for poetry. In 1988 she became the only author to have two collections selected in the same year as finalists for the Pulitzer Prize, Good Woman: Poems and a Memoir (BOA, 1987), and Next: New Poems (BOA, 1987).
