We've probably all seen it; string players putting rosin on their bows. But what is rosin and what does it do? Rosin is a solid form of resin that comes from conifer trees. String players "rosin" the horse hair of their bows to help create friction between the bow hairs and the strings, helping them to grip the strings and produce sound. On the June 13th episode we'll hear some string players that get the rosin flying.
