Live from Hochstein: The Salaff String Quartet, 4/10

The Salaff Quartet (Thomas Rodgers, violin; Molly McDonald, violin; Aika Ito, viola; and Benjamin Krug, cello) play music inspired by poetry, including selections from Schubert’s Death and the Maiden, and music from Denmark and the Shetland Islands as performed by the Danish String Quartet. The concert also includes a movement from Mozart’s String Quartet No. 19 in C Major, “Dissonance.”

You're invited to hear this music on Live from Hochstein on Wednesday, April 10th at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall (50 N. Plymouth Avenue, downtown Rochester) or by listening to the live broadcast on WXXI Classical.

The Salaff String Quartet was founded in 2014 by four members of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra who attended the Cleveland Institute of Music at different times but all studied chamber music with the same beloved teacher, Peter Salaff, for whom the quartet is named. As friends and young members in the orchestra, they enjoy performing together throughout the Rochester area.

Live from Hochstein with host Mona Seghatoleslami is a series of midday concerts by some of the finest artists in our area broadcast live from The Hochstein Performance Hall. Each of these free concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students, and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music by outstanding musicians, including soloists, duos, and vocal and chamber ensembles. You can also hear an encore broadcast of Live from Hochstein later the same day at 10 p.m. on WXXI Classical.
