The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) has been committed to enriching and inspiring our community through the art of music since its inception in 1922. The RPO presents approximately 150 concerts and broadcasts per year, serving up to 170,000 people through ticketed events, education and community engagement activities, and concerts in schools and community centers throughout the region. Andreas Delfs was named music director in 2021. Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik, now in his 30th season, has earned a national reputation for excellence in pops programming during his tenure with the RPO. The RPO reaches over 15,000 youths through its education programs.

Jake Taniguchi is the Assistant Conductor of the RPO and Music Director of the RPYO. In the 2026–27 season, he will lead numerous programs with both ensembles, including community, family, and education concerts, and will take the RPYO on an international tour to Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague.

Taniguchi has served on the conducting faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music, as principal conductor of the Hawaiʻi Chamber Music Festival (HCMF), and as assistant and cover conductor for the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra, Omaha Symphony, Grant Park Music Festival Orchestra, and the Indiana University Ballet and Opera Theater.

Live from Hochstein with host Mona Seghatoleslami is a series of midday concerts by some of the finest artists in our area broadcast live from The Hochstein Performance Hall. Each of these free concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students, and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music by outstanding musicians, including soloists, duos, and vocal and chamber ensembles. You can also hear an encore broadcast of Live from Hochstein later the same day at 10 p.m. on WXXI Classical.
