Pegasus Early Music’s ‘L’Orfeo’ finds a muse in the pandemic

The oldest opera not lost to history is coming to Rochester, and the director says this 17th century spectacle about loss and loneliness will especially resonate with modern audiences.

The opera, which runs Friday 8/26 through Sunday 8/28 at JCC’s Hart Theater, plays on the tragic Greek myth of the newly married Orfeo and Euridice, who are separated when Euridice dies from a snakebite.
