Geva Theatre’s annual Essie Calhoun Diversity in the Arts Award will take place on Thursday, March 28th at 6 p.m. prior to the 7:30 p.m. performance of Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill. This year’s “Essie” Award recipients are Gateways Music Festival, Lisa Helen Hoffman (posthumous), Annette Ramos, and Herbert Smith.

A Rochester conductor whose recordings inspired generations of musicians around the globe has died. Donald Hunsberger passed away on Sunday, November 5th. He was 91 years old. Hunsberger led the Eastman Wind Ensemble from 1965 to 2002.
