More Music to Fall in Love With

John Andres
John Andres

When I was about four years old my parents bought a record player for me.  They probably never imagined that one day I would be on the radio playing music from a turntable or a CD player on Classical 91.5. In those days there were records that played at 78, 45 or 33 and one third RPM (Revolutions Per Minute).

My first LP (long playing) record featured Victor Herbert’s “March of the Toys” from Babes In Toyland. It has special meaning for me because it was my first classical recording that I owned.

During that time my parents took me to RPO concerts with Howard Hanson conducting.

W.A. Mozart and Howard Hanson would be my next picks; however I enjoy music from the pre-Baroque to the 21st century. I’d like to think that’s reflected in my programming.

John Andres was born and raised in Rochester, New York. While in High School, John got his start as a morning P.A. announcer for East High School and in the school’s TV station. He graduated from Brockport College (Now Brockport University) and took classes at the University of Rochester and R.I.T. For twenty years, John taught 5th and 6th grade classes in the Rochester area.
