A collection of discussions between special guests and Music Director and midday host, Julia Figueras.

On Record with Michael Christie and Juliana Athayde - 12/14 & 12/16/17

Michael Christie has returned to our fair city to conduct your Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in a program of Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Mozart's final symphony, the Jupiter. As he began to plan the line-up, Mr. Christie had an idea: what if we presented the Vivaldi in the style of concerts of that era?  So this week, the RPO, Michael Christie, and Concertmaster/soloist Juliana Athayde will be giving you Vivaldi plus.  How will that play out?

Michael and Juliana explain it all to WXXI Music director Julia Figueras, and then go on to laud that brilliant musical nova, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

A Strong Memorial baby and Greece Arcadia grad, Julia Figueras was the Music Director and mid-day host for WXXI Classical until June 30, 2023 when she retired after more than 26 years of service. She also hosted the award-winning monthly interview/performance show, Backstage Pass.
