Live from Hochstein: Geneseo Chamber Singers

The Geneseo Chamber Singers, led by Gerald Floriano, perform music chosen in honor of SUNY Geneseo’s 150th anniversary and to highlight women choral composers from past to present. The program includes Jocelyn Hagen’s “Say It Out Loud,” a work newly commissioned for the choir; “Consolámini” by B.E. Boykin; selections from Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel’s Gartenlieder (Garden Songs); music by Eliza Gilkyson, and more.

You're invited to hear this music on Live from Hochstein on Wednesday April 27th at 12:10pm, in person* at the Hochstein Performance Hall (50 N. Plymouth Avenue, downtown Rochester) or by listening to the live broadcast on WXXI Classical.

Founded in 1958, the Geneseo Chamber Singers of the State University of New York College at Geneseo is a mixed collegiate chorus of international reputation with approximately 40 singers. The ensemble has performed throughout the Northeast at national and regional meetings of music educator conferences, as well as at Alice Tully Hall and Town Hall in New York City, National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and on 12 international tours.

Live from Hochstein with host Mona Seghatoleslami is a series of lunchtime concerts by some of the finest artists in our area broadcast live from Hochstein Performance Hall. Each of these free “brown bag” concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students, and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music during their lunch hour. You can also hear an encore broadcast of Live from Hochstein later the same day at 10 p.m. on Classical 91.5.

* Proof of vaccination is required for audience members (children age 11 and under must be accompanied by a vaccinated adult). All patrons will be required to wear masks. Please refrain from bringing food/drink into the hall so that we can all remain masked. See the full safety protocols online here.
