On March 12, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra presented a benefit concert for Ukraine, with proceeds going to support relief efforts, including medical aid and humanitarian assistance. Led by RPO Music Director Andreas Delfs, the program featured works by Ukrainian composers, and the U.S. premiere of Yevhen Stankovych’s Violin Concerto Number 5, performed by Eastman School of Music Professor of Violin Oleh Krysa, and “Melody” by Myroslav Skoryk.
We heard from RPO President and CEO Curt Long, Rochester Mayor Malik Evans, Eastman School of Music Dean Jamal Rossi, Eastman Professor of Violin Oleh Krysa, RPO Music Director Andreas Delfs, and members of Rochester’s Ukrainian American community – Oleg Lebedco, Oleena Prokopovich, Volodomir Pavlyuk, and Oleksander Yuri Shoohan.
