The Suen-Kam Guitar Duo: Guitarists Shiuen-Huang Suen and Kenneth Kam

Guitarists Shiuen-Huang Suen and Kenneth Kam will play music from the 17th to 20th centuries for two guitars. The program includes selections from Enrique Granados’ Danza Española, Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Pièces de clavecin, Fernando Sor’s L’Encouragement, Franz Schubert’s Ständchen, and Stanley Myers’ “Cavatina” from the film The Deer Hunter.

You're invited to hear this music on Live from Hochstein on Wednesday October 19th at 12:10pm, in person* at the Hochstein Performance Hall (50 N. Plymouth Avenue, downtown Rochester) or by listening to the live broadcast on WXXI Classical.

A dedicated teacher and active performer, Taiwan-born guitarist Shiuen-Huang Suen is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and teaches guitar at The Hochstein School. Kenneth Kam is a Hong Kong guitarist and lutenist who is based in Rochester, New York. He is an adjunct lecturer at SUNY Brockport and on the guitar faculty at the Eastman Community Music School. He is a doctoral candidate at the Eastman School of Music under the guidance of Paul O’Dette and Nicholas Goluses.

Each of these free concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students, and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music during the day. You can also hear an encore broadcast of Live from Hochstein later the same day at 10 p.m. on WXXI Classical.
