Poetry inspires music in many ways. Hear music from choral pieces and art songs to poetic pieces for piano, winds, and strings recorded over the years on Live from Hochstein, inspired by poems of Langston Hughes, Paul Verlaine, Emily Dickinson, Rudyard Kipling,  and children who were imprisoned at the Terezin Concentration Camp.  Featuring performances by the Telos Trio, Concentus Women’s Chorus, Cordancia, Geneseo Chamber Singers, and the Salaff Quartet in music by Claude Debussy, Lori Laitman, Valerie Coleman, Fanny Mendelssohn, Cary Ratcliff, Fanny Mendelssohn, Eric Whitacre, and more. Mona Seghatoleslami hosts and produced this special program.

Mona Seghatoleslami is the Music Director, host and producer on WXXI Classical 91.5 FM weekdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. She also hosts the lunchtime concert series Live From Hochstein Wednesdays at 12:10 p.m., interviews musicians, produces special programs, and works on any project she can find that helps connect people and music in our community through WXXI.
