Live from Hochstein Fall 2016

Live from Hochstein with host Mona Seghatoleslami is back with a whole new season of performances by some of the finest artists in our area broadcast live from Hochstein Performance Hall. Each of these free “brown bag” concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students, and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music during their lunch hour. Live from Hochstein repeats that same day at 10 p.m. on Classical 91.5.
 

?The season kicks off with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Daniel Meyer on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 12:10 p.m. You can attend these concerts in person at Hochstein, listen to them on the radio on WXXI Classical 91.5, or stream them right here on our website. Here's the full schedule: 

October 5th: Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra
Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra; Daniel Meyer, conductor
Program includes Beethoven’s Overture to Egmont and Dvo?ák’s Symphony No. 8 in G Major, Op. 88.

 

October 12th: Songs and Dances for Cello and Piano
Natasha Farny, cello; Jitka FowlerFrankova, piano
Program includes music of Villa-Lobos, Fauré, Prokofiev, Ravel, and Martin?.

 

October 19th: Trios por Segundo
Wesley Nance, trumpet; Maura McCuneCorvington, horn; Lisa Albrecht, trombone
Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s second trumpet, second French horn, and second trombone play trio music.

 

October 26th: Spanish Music, Then and Now
Yi-Wen Chang, piano
Program includes music of Scarlatti, Granados, Halffter, Casablancas, and Albéniz.

 

November 2nd: The Neave Trio
Anna Williams, violin; Mikhail Veselov, cello; EriNakamura, piano
Program includes selections from piano trios by Foote, Korngold, and Bernstein.

 

November 9th: Percussionist Michael Burritt
Michael Burritt, percussion

November 16th: World Premiere of “Willy's Mambo” by Dave Mancini
WilfredoDegláns, violin; TigranVardanyan, violin; Kieran Hanlon, bass; Nick Weiser, piano; Dave Mancini, drums

Program features the world premiere of “Willy’s Mambo” by Dave Mancini, along with other Latin-inspired music.

 

November 23rd: Thanksgiving week – Hochstein Recital Competition Winners on the radio
(no “live” show in the hall – program based on concert recorded earlier this year).

 

November 30th: Holiday Music for Horns
Eastman Horn Choir; W. Peter Kurau, director

Celebrate the season with brass music performed by musicians from the Eastman School of Music.

 

December 7th: A Cup of Good Cheer with Madrigalia
Madrigalia; Cary Ratcliff, artistic director
Our annual celebration of the holiday season with the choral chamber ensemble Madrigalia.

Mona Seghatoleslami is the Music Director, host and producer on WXXI Classical 91.5 FM weekdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. She also hosts the lunchtime concert series Live From Hochstein Wednesdays at 12:10 p.m., interviews musicians, produces special programs, and works on any project she can find that helps connect people and music in our community through WXXI.
