Greater Rochester Choral Consortium Virtual Holiday Prism Concert, 12/18/20

A Virtual Holiday Prism Concert
Friday, December 18 at 6:00pm

This has been a year like no other, without holiday concerts and traditional celebrations, so WXXI Classical offers a Virtual Holiday Prism Concert that features ensembles from the Greater Rochester Choral Consortium (GRCC). The program is hosted by WXXI’s Brenda Tremblay and Dan McInerney, treasurer of the GRCC Board. Journalist Norma Holland will join them for some thoughts about the importance of music this holiday season.

The GRCC Virtual Holiday Prism Concert will be accompanied by a Virtual Holiday Listening Party on Facebook. Listeners can share their thoughts about the music and the holiday season, answer trivia questions and participate in a post-concert discussion with Brenda and Dan. Tune in to Classical 91.5 at 6pm, and log onto the Facebook Event while listening to the program on the radio.

GRCC, a group of 28 member ensembles, regularly presents PRISM-style concerts, in which a number of ensembles perform in uninterrupted succession from different locations around a concert hall. This virtual prism concert includes beloved carols and holiday favorites, along with selections from larger seasonal works by John Rutter, Ola Gjeilo, J.S. Bach and others. Here is the complete program for the concert.

The Rochester area is home to an abundance of excellent community and professional choral ensembles, where nearly a thousand singers find vocal challenge and artistic fulfilment. Since 1996, the Greater Rochester Choral Consortium has enriched the Rochester community’s cultural environment by fostering the choral arts.
