Rochester's First Make Music Day!

Accidentally hearing music can melt your heart and ignite your curiosity.  That’s a real possibility on June 21, a day of worldwide celebration of music on which all kinds of musicians – young and old, amateur and professional -- will stream into parks and streets and bridges to make music for the sheer pleasure of it.  Keep your ears peeled.

Make Music Day is a free celebration of music around the world, first launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique.  It’s happening in Rochester this year and in more than 750 cities in 120 countries globally.   Click here to learn more and find venues to participate or just listen.

As for me, one of my favorite past times is to sit outside playing folk songs on my recorder, so I may do that at lunchtime on the Pont de Rennes bridge in the High Falls district downtown.  That’s not an official venue, but that’s okay.  Someone, I hope, will be surprised and intrigued.

What will you do on Make Music Day?  Do tell!   Send a picture of yourself making music and we’ll share it here and on theClassical 91.5 Facebook page.
