Winter Journeys

Attired for the Bomb Cyclone
Attired for the Bomb Cyclone

At this point in the winter, 19 degrees would probably feel like a heat wave - but that temperature still felt plenty cold the day that I gave winter biking a try with filmmakers Alex Weiser and Ander Kazmerski, for Rochester Street Films, a project by Reconnect Rochester.

You can see the results in a short movie here:

Here are a few other musical winter journeys - with Sibelius, Barber, and Schubert:

“No night could be darker than this night,
No cold so cold,
As the blood snaps like a wire,
And the heart’s sap stills,
And the year seems defeated”(Laurie Lee, set to music by Samuel Barber)

Der Leiermann (The Hurdy Gurdy Man) -poetry by Wilhelm Müller, music by Franz Schubert
