Maestra Mei-Ann Chen joins the RPO for her Rochester debut. You’ll hear Jennifer Higdon’s “Blue Cathedral,” a work which evokes loss and mourning with its evocative harmonies and shimmering colors. Pianist Inon Barnatan returns to perform Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with an innovative orchestration crafted to showcase the orchestra. The concert ends with a symphony by Louise Farrenc. Her Romantic music was all but forgotten after her death, so the RPO is proud to join orchestras around the world in bringing well-deserved attention to her symphonic output.
