Experience baroque gems from a quartet of musicians from Pegasus Early Music and The Publick Musick: Boel Gidholm and Molly Werts MacDonald, violins; Christopher Haritatos, cello; and Deborah Fox, theorbo. Music by familiar composers Purcell, Corelli, and Vivaldi, will mix with music by lesser known but no less compelling composers Luigi Boccherini and Dario Castello.
You're invited to hear this music on Live from Hochstein on Wednesday, October 30th, at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall (50 N. Plymouth Avenue, downtown Rochester) or by listening to the live broadcast on WXXI Classical.
This concert features music for baroque ensemble, performed on period instruments, modeled on the way they would have been in the baroque era, including gut strings. Audiences can expect to hear the melodious interplay of the two violins, with the cello providing a strong foundation, and the theorbo – a long-necked lute of the baroque era –playing bass and providing harmonies and accompaniment, much like the harpsichord.
Live from Hochstein with host Mona Seghatoleslami is a series of midday concerts by some of the finest artists in our area broadcast live from The Hochstein Performance Hall. Each of these free concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students, and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music by outstanding musicians, including soloists, duos, and vocal and chamber ensembles. You can also hear an encore broadcast of Live from Hochstein later the same day at 10 p.m. on WXXI Classical.
