The program with cellist Kathleen Murphy Kemp and pianist Dr. Jiao Sun features Bach’s Sonata No. I in G Major, BWV 1027, a contemplative four-movement work, followed by Frank Bridge’s charming Berceuse , and concludes with Brahms’ passionate Sonata No. 2 in F Major, Op. 99.

Cellist Kathleen Murphy Kemp, a longtime Hochstein faculty member and Eastman graduate, enjoyed a distinguished 50-year career with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra as Assistant Principal Cello while mentoring generations of young musicians. A co-founder of Hochstein’s chamber music program and advocate for music education, she has performed nationwide and received numerous awards for her contributions to music and community.
Pianist Dr. Jiao Sun, laureate of the Washington International Piano Competition, is an internationally acclaimed soloist and chamber musician known for her expressive artistry and technical brilliance. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Cincinnati and serves as master piano teacher at Ohio University’s Athens Community Music School.
Live from Hochstein with host Mona Seghatoleslami is a series of midday concerts by some of the finest artists in our area broadcast live from The Hochstein Performance Hall. Each of these free concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students, and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music by outstanding musicians, including soloists, duos, and vocal and chamber ensembles.
