Classical 91.5 host Julia Figueras welcomes the Carillon Tuba Quartet from the Eastman School of Music to Backstage Pass on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 1 p.m. on Classical 91.5. The group, which actually consists of four euphoniums and one tuba, performs regularly around Rochester and have placed in several brass and chamber music competitions. They will perform in studio and talk to Julia about their past and upcoming performances.
Founded in 2012, the Carillon Tuba Quartet has enjoyed playing in and around Rochester. The quartet was named a finalist at the 2014 International Tuba Euphonium Conference in Bloomington, Indiana, and competed at the 2015 North East Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference in Ithaca, New York. The quartet enjoyed serving as the Messinger Chamber Music Ambassadors for the Eastman School of Music last spring, conducting a three-day residency in Naples, NY performing at community venues and the local elementary and secondary schools. The Carillon Quartet is committed to performing for the community at the highest possible level.

Stephen Cannistraci: originally from Lebanon, Pennsylvania is a senior studying euphonium performance and Music Education at the Eastman School of Music. Stephen studies with professor Mark Kellogg.
Aaron Eckert: originally from Bellville, Illinois is a second year master’s student studying euphonium and jazz trombone at the Eastman School of Music. Aaron studies with professor Mark Kellogg.
William Wortley: originally from Keonsha, Wisconsin is a senior studying euphonium performance and Physics at the Eastman School of Music and University of Rochester, respectively. Wil studies with professor Mark Kellogg.
Andrew Payton: originally from Brookfield, Illinois is a senior studying tuba performance and music education at the Eastman School of Music. Andrew studies with professor Don Harry.
Backstage Pass is a monthly live performance program that gives listeners the backstage experience of meeting local and visiting artists “up close and personal.” This episode will repeat Sunday, May 22 at 1 p.m. on Classical 91.5.
