Live from Hochstein: Women in Music Festival: In the Company of Women, 3/27

A Woman and a man sitting at a piano, framed by the piano lid at full stick
Bonnie Choi and Kevin Nitsch play music by Cecile Chaminade as part of the Women in Music Festival, on Live from Hochstein March 27th

Members of the Nazareth University music faculty celebrate the artistry of women composers during the third Women in Music Festival, featuring Anne Kunkle, saxophone; Pablo Willey-Bustos, tenor; Bonnie Choi, piano; and Kevin Nitsch, piano.

You're invited to hear this music on Live from Hochstein on Wednesday, March 27th at 12:10pm, in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall (50 N. Plymouth Avenue, downtown Rochester) or by listening to the live broadcast on WXXI Classical.

The program includes In the First, Spinning Place, a saxophone concerto by Hilary Tann which was inspired by a poem by the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas; works by French composer Cécile Chaminade, one of the leading female composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries; and two songs by contemporary American composer Lori Laitman, composer-in-residence for the festival.

This concert is part of the Women in Music Festival at Nazareth University and Buffalo State University. The festival includes concerts and panel discussions, all of which serve as a catalyst for purposeful dialogue, future collaborations, and engaging performances for our community.

Live from Hochstein with host Mona Seghatoleslami is a series of midday concerts by some of the finest artists in our area broadcast live from The Hochstein Performance Hall. Each of these free concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students, and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music by outstanding musicians, including soloists, duos, and vocal and chamber ensembles. You can also hear an encore broadcast of Live from Hochstein later the same day at 10 p.m. on WXXI Classical.
